No fuss, no bother

At the end of my penultimate week at work, I have reneged on the idea of just slipping away quietly because some colleagues have indicated they want to say goodbye. My natural impulse is to get out as quickly and quietly as possible, forgetting that the act of  leaving a place after only 14 months has had more of an impact than I realise. I’ll get some treats for the office; that’s only fair because I have been such a sweet tooth fiend at work, delighting in all the offerings that appear periodically on the central filing cabinets, hoping the energy boosts will somehow make everything more palatable.  It will be the first social occasion we have experienced as a team, so there are no expectations only wonder and curiosity.
